Welcome to Big Business 6! Our biggest upgrade ever, Big Business 6 saves you time by being easier, faster, and more powerful than ever before. This document covers the basics for installing, updating, and seeing what's new.

Big Business 6 features a new data engine for improved performance and compatibility with modern operating systems. Please refer to the booklet which accompanies the Big Business CD, or www.bigbusiness.com, for upgrade and pricing information.

Big Busines 6 automatically updates Data Files from earlier versions; just Open a copy of your Data File. Optimizing with Tools is easier; see the Tools ReadMe for details. A growing list of new Features and Fixes is included below.

PDF Printer has been updated. Workstations using the PDF Printer from an earlier version should have the old PDF-XChange uninstalled, which requires a Restart, and have the new PDF Printer 4 installed. See Solution 6004 for detailed instructions. Big Business Tools has also been updated. Please refer to BB Tools ReadMe prior to use.

System Requirements

* Windows 2000, 2003, 2008, XP, or Vista
* Pentium or better system with 256 MB or more RAM
* 200 MB of free hard disk space


Notes

* A demo file, Demo File.4dd, is installed in the program directory (c:\program files\big business\demo\). User passwords are blank. When running on Vista, which locks the Program Files folder, the Demo File is copied to your User folder (c:\users\your_name\big business\demo).

* To switch data files, hold down the Alt key IMMEDIATELY AFTER launching Big Business.

* To create a New data file, hold down the Alt key immediately after launching and on the Open File dialogue, click New. Name and save the new file.

* To Uninstall use the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel Applet. Files created during use may be found in: Users\{User Name}\AppData\ (VISTA) or by using the Search utility to find the BB6Prefs folder.


Updating or Upgrading

* If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Big Business, uninstall the prior version as follows: backup your data file or and/or move it to a safe location, then, run Add/Remove Programs (Start > Settings > Control Panels) to uninstall.


Installation and Registration

To install, run bb60x.exe by double-clicking the downloaded file, or by clicking Install on the CD splash screen. To install Client, run bb60xcl.exe by double-clicking the downloaded file, or clicking Explore This CD from the CD splash screen and navigating to the Client60 folder. Using the default settings is recommended; just click Next.

* Installation should be performed by an Administrator-level user.
