Name:
Installing Big Business for Multiple Users
Description:
Big Business 4.2.3 adds a few changes to support multiple users or logons, particularly for Windows XP and Mac OS X.
Big Business should be usable by multiple users of the same computer, provided they are not running concurrently. An error such as "Resource Cache File could not be created" or failure to save data in a common data file may result if Big Business is running under two user accounts on the same computer at the same time. Solution:
Big Business and Big Business Client are designed to be accessible by multiple users of the same computer. When you install Big Business for Windows, for example, you have the option to add the program to all users' Start Menus (in the pictured dialog). This allows two different users of the same computer to maintain different desktops, file permissions, etc, and allow both to use Big Business easily.
Switching Users may allow one user to leave programs running, while another uses the computer. We recomend against leaving Big Business running while switching users (at the OS level). Running the program concurrently for another user may cause an error ("resource cache file cannot be created"), occupy too many licenses on a Server, or cause other problems.
Big Business itself includes Switch User functionality, allowing one Big Business User to sign out and another to sign-in. Different users with different Access can alternate on one running copy of Big Business and save having to reload startup information. To switch users, choose Switch User from the File menu in Big Business, or click the Switch User tool on the Maintenance toolbar. Click Contine to Sign out and Big Business will not be accessible until a new Name and Password are entered.
