Saving Import Settings 

Description: 
Big Business 5.1.2 adds features for automating Imports to simplify the process and reduce errors. First is the option to Save Import Settings for repeat use. When you select and map an Import, you can Save it. Then, select it by Name the next time you need the same Import with the same settings.

This Solution describes saving, editing, and deleting Imports. (5996)

Solution: 
Big Business can save Import settings for repeat use. This feature includes:
• requiring Employee Access to create or edit Auto-Imports
• designating the Import as Public or Private
• including mapping, Do Not Import Header, and Tag settings, as applicable
• alerting when an import file does not contain enough columns for an Import
• saving edits or deleting Imports you have created

To grant access to Edit Imports:
1. Open an Employee Card, such as your own
2. Go to the Access tab
3. Click the checkbox for, Can Edit Auto-Imports
4. OK the reminder that the Employee needs to Sign In again
5. Save the Employee Card
Select Switch User from the File menu if you need to Sign In again.

To create an Import:
1. Select the Import tool from the Maintenance toolbar
2. Select an appropriate file to import in the Open dialog
3. Select an existing entry from the Import Into... list
4. Map the Import, selecting Available and Insertion choices and clicking Insert
5. Set the Don't Import Header checkbox (to skip a row with Names/Headers)
6. Edit the Tag as needed (for Imports that can Tag each record for later searching)
• To force the Tag to be blank enter an exclamation point, !, in the Tag field
7. In Import Type select:
• Public - for all users that use the Import tool
• Private - for your use only
• Auto-Import - for automated processing in a future version
8. Click Save As...
9. Enter a brief Name, which will appear on the Import Into... list
10. Click Cancel if you are done, or click OK to import the file selected in Step 2

To edit an Import:
• Follow the steps above, selecting your Import in Step 3, and clicking Save in Step 8

To Delete an Import:
• Follow the Steps 1-3 above, selecting your Import in Step 3, and then click Delete.

To use your saved Import:
1. Select the Import tool from the Maintenance toolbar
2. Select an appropriate file to import in the Open dialog
3. Select your saved Import from the Import Into... list
4. Click OK to import
