Export Files Won't Open in AppleWorks 5 (5.0.3)
Description:
Big Business exports information as Tab-Delimited text, which should be readable with most applications which read text files. As a convenience, export files created on MacOS, are marked as Microsoft Excel documents, so that when double-clicked, they launch Excel.
In a few cases, we found it impossible to open a Big Business export, or any file for that matter, into AppleWorks 5. It's as if the free version of AppleWorks 5 included with earlier iMacs does not import. This Solution offers a few suggestions. (5503)

Upgrade to AppleWorks 6. Inexpensive, powerful, simple.
Get Excel. Office 2001 is pricey, but very powerful, and comes in a cool case. Excel will continue to be the standard for BB exports.
Find a Mac with AppleWorks 6. A new iMac or iBook in your office may have version 6 of AppleWorks installed. You can save from AppleWorks 6 as AppleWorks 5.
If you're stuck, email the file to support@bigbusiness.com with a note asking that we convert it to AppleWorks 5.
