Big Business helps you customize your work environment by offering each user a choice of styles and settings in My Prefs. My Prefs lets you choose settings for:
Notes
Windows
Tool tips
Sort Order
Fonts
Printing
Emailing
This Solution provides details for some of these settings. (5720)
Big Business Notes let users send messages to other users on the system and attach Big Business entries or documents. Each user has preferences, in My Prefs, for how often to check for new Notes.

The New Window setting lets you choose to always open a new window. The default setting in Big Business is to only open one Order, one Item Adjustment, one instance of any tool.
You can hold Shift to open another instance of a tool, so a new Order won't force you to close another Order already open on your screen.
Or you can change the New Window setting in My Prefs to Advanced, which will always open a new window. Just don't open too many windows. Like opening too many programs, too many windows will fill up memory and slow down your computer.

Xi is Helios icons on white buttons. This gives better contrast on new macOS releases where system toolbars and buttons may appear more gray.

MDI Client uses the older Multi Document Interface for Windows, which displays the grey background window within which all Big Business windows are displayed.
The new standard Client for Big Business for Windows uses SDI, Single Document Interface, which is the modern standard.
If for some reason you need the old look we can build this. It is not a standard offering and is not included included in our standard testing cycle. It should work perfectly well for some time but will not prompt changes that contravene new standards.
Auto Email is a new setting in My Prefs for testing new options in emailing.
Classic is the setting used by default and uses Applescript in a standard way.
New Mac also uses Applescript but in a new way to work with new Macs.
Server is a setting to Auto Send from Big Business Server.
With Big Business 13.49, Classic is no longer the default but can be selected if needed.
My Prefs let you change the look of your Big Business Client and set your preferences for searching, sorting, printing, emailing, and more.
Contact is a new icon set that copies Contour and changes the coloring for visibility.
Pictured are Contour on top, which becomes illegible in Dark Mode on the second row, followed by Contact which is blue and easier to see using Light (3) or Dark (4) mode.
If you are using Contour but moving to macOS Sonoma and Dark Mode try Contact.
Big Business 14 updates Tool Icons, to add choices for Dark Mode on the Mac, or and some better looks for Windows. Icon Prefs let you choose the Icons you want to use.
Go to Employee toolbar, My Prefs, and select your preferred icon set.

Diamond is a new icon set that copies Carbon and changes the coloring for visibilitly.
Pictured are Carbon in Light Mode, Carbon in Dark Mode, Diamond in Light Mode, and Diamond in Dark Mode.
Toolbar Prefs let you choose your toolbar: Classic, Palette, Window, or Full Window.
Classic and Palette can both be dragged, while holding Control and Command on Mac.
Window is the modern default toolbar which stays put and responds to single-clicks. Full Window is a regular window that is easier to move, stays open in other apps, and needs two clicks, one to select the window and one to select the tool.
Toolbar Prefs let you choose your toolbar: Classic, Palette, Window, or Full Window.
SDI is Single Document Interface, which opens each window separately. Full Window does this correctly, including Menus and Close Box. For others, please Ctrl-Q to Quit.
Window Prefs are added so you can choose Classic if new windows cause any issues.
MacOS Tahoe 26.3.1 and 26.3.2 lock up the Print dialog so you cannot select printers, or PDF or Preview. This is debilitating if you need a PDF of a report for emailing.
This problem seemed fixed in MacOS Tahoe 26.4, and perhaps broken again in 26.4.1.
