Chapter 341 AvaTax Connect
AvaTax Connect is an add-on for BigBusiness to connect your AvaTax from Avalara.
This Chapter will combine Settings and Administration until a new chapter is needed.
BigBusiness requires a Subscription to run Avalara Services and ensure upkeep for use.
AvaTax Connect
AvaTax is a full service Sales Tax offering from Avalara. AvaTax Connect is an add-on for BigBusiness to connect and engage AvaTax for tracking Customers and Sales Taxes.
Avalara Registration
Avalara Services are free to use with supported Editions of BigBusiness but require Registration to ensure they do not conflict with any other services, such as TaxJar.
You will receive an email with Registration and Setup instructions. Go to Company card, Upgrade, Avalara and enter your Registration.
Avalara Endpoint
Avalara Endpoint lets you set for AvaTax Sandbox, for testing, or Production for real. Each has its own credentials to avoid mistakes. Take care in entering these correctly.
Avalara Keys
Avalara Keys are needed to run Avalara Services in BigBusiness for live lookup of Tax.
Generating keys replaces existing keys which deactives them. Please use carefully.
Go to your Avalara account, to AvaTax Sandbox or Production, and go Settings menu, License and API Keys, and Generate New Key. Copy or Download and keep safely.
Also, copy your Account ID to put into Avalara Settings in BigBusiness to connect.
Avalara Test
Avalara Test lets you confirm that your Account ID and License Key work correctly.
Go to System toolbar, Company card, Connect Settings tab and click Avalara Settings. Click the test button to see if Authenticated, Not Authenticated, or Failed to Connect.
Avalara Services
Avalara Services are lookup functions that run in BigBusiness when you save an entry. They send Customer and Amounts for your transactions and receive Sales Tax details.
Custom workflows let you control updating to receive realtime Sales Tax for each sale.
This requires upkeep as your customers file Resale Certificates, and sales rules change.
BigBusiness handles this seamlessly by Setup, Updating, and Subscriptions as needed.
Avalara Timeouts
Avalara Timeouts allow more time for a slow Client to connect to Avalara AvaTax.
Avalara Not Authenticated
Not Authenticated tells you BigBusiness reaches Avalara but credentials do not work.
Freight Code
Freight Code lets you set the set the default Tax Code to use on Line 1 Other Charges.
FR030000 is the code for Shipping And Handling Combined and is assigned as default.
Merchandise Code
Merchandise Code lets you set the default Tax Code to use on Line 2 Taxable Subtotal.
P0000000 is the code for Tangible Personal Property TPP used for fully taxable items.
Customer Code
Customer Code lets you set a default Customer Code to use when Customer's is blank.
000 is the default entry used to avoid errors as Customer Code is required for lookups.
